The Satyananda Yoga Centre London (the original “SYC”) provided yoga classes for over forty years under the direction of Swami Pragyamurti Saraswati.
While the centre itself closed its doors in April 2024, all of its teachers continue to carry its mission forward, in the tradition of the Bihar School of Yoga.

The Land of Absolute Silence
I have fled
from a world of chaos
after tasting its tricks
so thoroughly
There was hunger in its food
and thirst in its water.
Suffering was hidden in its pleasure
like thorns among the roses.
The emptiness of its offerings
inspired my re-direction
towards the valley of the Absolute.
Inner silence is my new world
where I begin to see
my oneness with God
as my real identity.
In my inner world
I am alone with You.
Your grace sings calm into my soul
as we walk the path together.
Swami Pragyamurti Saraswati
This poem was written by Swami Pragyamurti many years ago.
Swami Pragyamurti left her body approx 16:50 on Friday 11th August 2023, in her own bed at home, surrounded by family and friends, just as she wanted.
“If you do not find peace within, you will not find it anywhere else. The goal of life is the attainment of peace and not the achievement of power, name, fame or wealth.”
